“I had the birth I set out to get”

Thank you Amy for sharing this wonderful birth story with us:)

“I just wanted to share my second babies calm birth story…

Francesca arrived on the 9th October, 10.25 Dubai time (we are from the UK originally).

I’d been managing my mild to moderate surges since 7am using the breathing techniques and listening to the mp3s , even falling asleep for a hour. Around 7pm the surges ramped up the breathing got heavier but I was still managing by 9pm we were on our way to the labour unit (you can’t home birth in Dubai) luckily they had a hypnobirthing suite free with a lovely big bath and twinkly lights etc.

I was already 7cm. I Hopped in the bath, the mid wife left the room as they could see I was managing with my husband, but all of a sudden I had to get out I had a moment of panic and thought ‘oh shit I cannot do this’ I thought I needed a poo and sat on the loo the next thing I was breathing her head out without even knowing it, the mid wife came back in and out popped her body so she was born on the loo (he he).

Swiftly after out came the placenta there was no time to discuss injections. I think everyone was shocked at how quickly arrived. The oxytocin rush I had when she was born was amazing, which us something I missed with my first baby as I’d had morphine and done a lot if exhaustive pushing.

I had the birth I set out to get when looking for the right home hypnobirthing course. I practised all summer with Suzy Ashworth and I just want to say a huge thank you. It was an amazing experience.

I love the fact you added me to this group the morning you’d given birth to Aluna! I’m sore and bruised at the moment but I have one super chilled baby who also loved the MP3s and breathing all Summer ?

This stuff really does work! Thank you”
