Thank you to Regina who sent in her birth story with baby Riley. Congratulations on your beautiful baby boy.
“Hello everyone! I am a little sleep deprived, my little one wakes up a lot during the night. My son Riley was born January 4th at 2:24 a.m. he weighed 8 pounds 6 ounces and was 21 inches long.
My birth was very long but I wouldn’t have been able to do it without Suzy and the Calm Birth School sharing wonderful breathing techniques with me. When I got to the hospital I was still in early labour but an hour later I was in active labour. My husband was very supportive when contractions started to get worse. He never left my side and helped me with breathing. I was in labour for 13 hours in the hospital.
I had my son naturally. I ended up having my midwife break my water when I was 8 ½ cm dilated as we were trying to speed up the labour. It didn’t end up speeding anything up! My midwife was very supportive. I was very tired from having contractions and I was in a lot of pain, where I got very upset and lost all my breathing and was just an emotional mess for a minute. My husband and his sister calmed me down and got me back to my normal breathing in no time.
I used the bathtub at the hospital which really helped with labour pains. When I was at 9cm dilated I got back in the tub to try and move things along. Finally I had this feeling that it was time to push I told my husband to get the midwife, sure enough it was time to push (a relief). I ended up pushing for an hour. I was so tired while pushing I would sleep between my contractions for a minute.
Then there my son was in my arms. It was the best thing I have ever done in my life. Giving birth to my beautiful baby boy made me have a better connection with my husband. I would say everything went as planned and I couldn’t be more than happy. I have a beautiful healthy baby boy. Thank you all so much for your help!”
