The Most Incredible Twin Home Birth Story You Have Ever Heard!!

Seriously, this story rocks!!!

So, I’m going to apologize for the slight fan girl excitement at the start of this interview. BUT this was a really special interview for me because I got to talk to the wonderful Lana Shlafer who shares with us her amazing twin home birth story.

There are so many interesting factors in the story I am almost stumped at where to begin.

First of all Lana is based in the States. We hear from our friends across the pond, all of the time, just how challenging it can be, giving birth in a system that does not put choice at the heart of the maternity education. So geography was not on Lana’s side.

She was having twins!! We haven’t worked with any twin homebirths so far. But if you know someone, or in fact did it yourself, we would LOVE to hear from you and share your story.

Regardless of where you are in the world, in many cases the moment you find out you are having a multiple birth, you are viewed as high risk. Often facing big challenges if you know you do not want to have a medically managed birth.

Lana’s first baby was breech, which she knew before she went into labour, but had made the decision she would at least like to try and birth her baby naturally.

After the birth of her son, the labour completely stopped, whilst  her body rested. It wasn’t until thirty-three hours later, her daughter  was born. Thirty-three hours!

Lana shares how she prepared for her birth. She talks about the importance of listening and trusting the body and the small tweaks you can do, to really embody and hear the communication between your baby, your body and you. This is such a fantastic interview and hope it inspires you as much as it inspired me.
