I Looked Forward To The Birth

This week’s birth story comes from the lovely couple Elesha and Aidan who gave birth to Éira Rose after attending Hypnobirthing sessions with Tish McElduff of Births Boobs Babies in Co. Tyrone, Ireland.

Thank you for sharing your story with us!

“We started our hypnobirthing journey with Tish a few months into my pregnancy. It was my 1st pregnancy, so I didn’t have a clue what I was in for, with Tish’s help and knowledge I became really calm and actually looked forward to the birth.

I was started at 41 weeks and things progressed really quickly that they had to slow my surges down with my wave comb and breathing techniques I felt in control. I used gas and air and morphine for my pain relief and Aidan picked up a few things in the classes and was excellent during my labour.  Things took a slight change near the end and I had to go to theatre for an emergency C section, although this was not what I had planned I remained calm and continued with my breathing.

Éira arrived but unfortunately she picked up an infection and spent a few days in the neonatal unit, Tish messaged me every day to make sure we were both doing ok, still giving me advice and helping me to remain calm.

If it wasn’t for hypnobirthing my experience would have been a lot different. We will forever be grateful to Tish for all the help before, during and after the birth.”
