From Vision to Reality: My Journey to Becoming a Hypnobirthing Instructor

I undertook training at The Calm Birth school in January 2025, and finished the face-to-face weekend in March of the same year. The training was fabulous and exactly what I had hoped for! I had a big vision for my business already and had considered what I would like to offer my clients, so I went ahead and put the wheels in motion straight away! I started by setting up my social media pages for my business. My goal was/is to support pregnant women locally on a one-to-one basis in my local area, to teach group evening classes and also to offer Hypnobirthing Retreats in South Devon, in our self-contained annexe. I offer 2 or 3 night packages and involve being taught by myself on site from the comfort of their own accommodation.

I had lined up a case study shortly after the training was complete at low cost. I knew that I knew the content, but going into someone’s house who I didn’t know for 2.5 hours was daunting! They were super welcoming though and after the four sessions I was so pleased with how they had gone, I was buzzing after each session and really felt like I taught them some invaluable information, which was a great feeling!

I then got in contact with a local retailer and had a stand at a baby show. I generated quite a fair bit of interest, so therefore I took the plunge, booked a space to rent and I have now (September 2025) just finished my first 4-week group course with 3 couples! I am so excited for the future as this is what I had always dreamt of doing, teaching women the skills and techniques that will help them immeasurably during their own unique births.

I can’t wait to see what happens next! Setting up a business is definitely hard going to begin with, learning how to post social media content regularly, and forking out for bits and pieces to teach with and all my banners for events, and creating a website from scratch. I am still learning as I go, but I am honestly enjoying every bit of it!

Liz at the Calm Birth School has been incredibly supportive and has always been there to help! She has been there every step of the way and has been invaluable for giving me the confidence to go and do what I am so passionate about!
