Falling in Love with Birth: My Path to Becoming a Hypnobirthing Instructor

“I first discovered hypnobirthing during my first pregnancy in 2020 and fell in love with it. It had such a positive impact on my birth but I knew I’d only just scratched the surface. After my son was born I found myself completely immersed in the birth and hypnobirthing world. The more I learned, the more I loved it and I started to wonder if it was something I could actually do. Up until then my work had always been just ‘jobs’ but this was something I felt really passionate about. And then I found Liz!

I trained with The Calm Birth School in early 2022 once I was back at work in my part time job. The training was everything I hoped it would and more. It was a wonderful experience and the support from Liz and my cohort was amazing. I started working with my first few private clients that same year which was a bit both nerve wracking and thrilling! I also started attending local pregnancy events straight away which was a great way to build my confidence.

I now regularly work with private clients, have regular hypnobirthing groups and organise free pregnancy and baby events in my local area. I’ve met so many wonderful people since I started this business, both the families I’ve supported and the other pregnancy and baby businesses I’ve connected with.

Building my business has been a gradual process for me, balancing it alongside a part time job, a toddler and then a second baby and maternity leave. 2025 has been my busiest and most exciting year yet. I’ve now supported over 40 families and have recently qualified as a birth and postnatal doula so I can continue to grow and provide even more support to families.

I didn’t have any clear business goals when I first started and now I’m on track to making this my full time work. I’m still constantly learning and love that this is now my work. It all started with a phone call with Liz to find out about The Calm Birth School and I’m so glad I booked that call!”
