Growing up in Hawaii, in a bustling family of 13 siblings, I learned first hand about the importance of family bonds and deep connections. As one of the youngest, I grappled with being a people pleaser and dealing with anxiety. Yet, these challenges paved the way for a rewarding career in healthcare, where I discovered immense joy in helping others.
When the pandemic struck, it sparked a realization about the significance of holistic self-care, encompassing mental health, nutrition, and exercise. Amidst this, a surprising pregnancy while on birth control sent me on a whirlwind journey of research and self-discovery. I drowned myself in what felt like way too much information. Despite immersing myself in books and dipping my toes into hypnobirthing, I still felt overwhelmed and scared during labor, which left me feeling as if birth was something that had happened to me, rather than something that uplifted and transformed me.
Following the birth of my first daughter and experiencing a long, unmedicated labor, I felt a strong urge to delve deeper into the mind-body connection. This led me to become a certified prenatal and postnatal fitness specialist, providing me with a fresh perspective on pregnancy care, but there was still something missing. I wanted to understand how to quiet my anxiety and build the confidence to advocate for myself more effectively.
As I embarked on my second pregnancy journey, I fully embraced hypnobirthing, diving head first. This transformative practice became the missing puzzle piece, empowering me to reclaim my power and cherish every moment of the birthing experience. It not only helped me feel more in control during labor but also equipped me with tools that extend far beyond childbirth, enabling me to be a calmer parent for my children and take control of my mental health.
This journey has deepened my appreciation for the resilience of the human body and its ability to reshape the mind. Now, I’m on a mission to share this empowering journey with other moms, because we all deserve to navigate the waves of labor and parenting with grace and confidence.
Thank you for being here and trusting me to be a part of your story.
Love, Monica Nolan
